"It isn't enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it. And it isn't enough to believe in it. One must work at it." Eleanor Roosevelt
Small Stones #9
The pathway is the same yet, every day it feels different...
The walkers are the same yet, every day they look different
The preachers are the same yet, every day they act different
The message is the same yet, every day it sounds different...
In the silence on the path, I know that, with Peace, there is no difference...
Since I started writing the stones yesterday, I'll add one more each day to catch up. Today, I have #2 and #9. For more on what Small Stones are, see my First Small Stones post and More below.
"He that would live in peace and at ease must not speak all he knows or all he sees." Benjamin Franklin
Small Stone #2
We watched it land, red and proud
Perched on a branch, nary a sound
The phone rang... Peace wasn't calling
Red Cardinal knew it and went flying
Which was more unsettling?
The interruption or the sudden departure...
What are small stones?
According to the originators of this wonderful exercise, a small stone is a short piece of writing (prose or poetry) that precisely captures a fully-engaged moment. The process of discovering small stones is as important as the finished product. Searching for small stones will encourage you to keep all your senses; - your eyes,(and ears, nose, mouth, fingers, feelings and mind) open.
Some Food for Thought: How are you adding to peaceful exchanges? Can you write about those things in small, short pieces? Take a moment to contemplate what peace means to you? Love and Peace in 2013.
I would love to hear from you: Please leave me a comment. Thank You!

Nice poems! It may sound cliche, but I'm really praying for world peace!
I think I should continue writing poems, creative literature again. Your post is inspiring. :)
Very nice tribute to small stones! I used to collect pebbles you know, but since I got married and moved to another city, I left all of them in my parents house. :D
Interesting food for thought about stones... love your descriptions.
TY Dominique! I'm learning as I go along. :-)
Hi Meikah,
I used to do same too... I've always loved pebbles we find at the beach and whenever possible, I collect a few for decoration... TY! :-)
Louise, please do! I find creative writing very relaxing and healing... I'll read and comment on yours too. TY! :-)

Same here, Lady Anne! I'm okay with however others choose to view peace as long as they are committed to work to co-exist. TY! :-)
